Episode 5: Out on the Town – Part 1
The loyal retainers and servants of House Tuttle have been sent to Oldtown to have a vacation of sorts. Lord Tuttle has requested some time with his family, and figures that some of the loyal servants probably need a break from the House also. Lord Tuttle decrees that Elyana, Dylan, Meridora and Ser Gareth Hewett go to Oldtown under the premise of picking up a Tuttle to-be sworn sword by the name of Evan Onslow who will be in command of the House’s future cavalry, once the need and the money make it possible. Once there, what will everyone do? Will there be adventure? Or trouble?
Lord Tuttle announces that he wishes some time with his family. To achieve that end, he rewards everyone, with the exception of Maera and Simon, a trip to ancient Oldtown, the second largest city in Westros and the center of trade for the Seven Kingdoms. He tells Ser Gareth Hewett that there is a man who is to be a sworn sword who direct Tuttle cavalry when the house has a need for it. He also directs Gareth to buy new garb if he is to represent House Tuttle in future tourneys. With success comes the responsibility of looking good for the people. He also gives Meridora some coin for herbs and medicines for Lady Tuttle’s ailments.
Everyone arrives at Oldtown, wherein Elyana and Gareth go to find clothiers and Dyan and Meridora make sure that Elyana doesn’t get into trouble.
First encounter with a Lannister. Elyana staked out where the pavillions of House Tuttle would go, and supervised their raising. Lord Tuttle himself was off speaking to the other Lords in attendance, Lady Tuttle went with the other Ladys, Maera and Meridora went off in their own direction as did Simon.
Trying to move a Mountain.
Shopping using intimidation.
Boys of the Citadel.
Although this was time off from duties at Tannenhall, it seems that bigger things are afoot. The encounters with the Lannisters and their henchmen give everyone a taste of Houses outside the realm of the Reach, and foreshadow larger events that will define the history of Westros. Also, this is the first encounter in a larger city as the servants of House Tuttle. Somehow, Tannenhall seems both small and insignificant and away and secure in the relation to ancient and sprawling Oldtown. And the adventure is just beginning.
