After a short vacation, I’m back at work.
Arriving back from a productive trip to Oldtown, the island was a happening place. Many new people had arrived and our dear Lord Aleric Tuttle was happy to see his son. On my way back to the castle I met the lord on the road and he requested my escort as he and his son rode about on the island.
While I had no wish to ride when simply walking would do, I prepared the most calm horse in the stable and rode down to meet them. As I rode up I saw the lord, his son, and our new master of horse in some distress. People were fleeing the scene to each side. Sure this was more banditry from the Shell Island Rebels, I rode down one. Not much of a fighter, I cut his legs before running down the other and doing the same to him. Unable to walk, I dragged and kicked them back to Lord Tuttle and left them for his justice as the master of horse and I both rode down the other attackers. Since they were on foot in open country, the delay did not count for much as we rode them down with ease. Expecting the rebel to defend himself I feinted with a blow to the heart before a strike at his legs. Unfortunately for him, he never moved his sword in defense. After my feint to the heart pierced the rebel, he fell dead to the ground. Thankfully I had already captured two men that could be questioned.
Unfortunately they did not have much to say since they were simply foot soldiers with no knowledge of the rebel’s organization. But attending their sentencing as well as the feast that night, I was able to meet our new arrivals. I even came across one of the men of the Night’s Watch at the inn. While he seems to be doing his duties, I suspect that there is more here than meets the eye. I would not be surprised if it turns out that these men in black are mere agents of the hand of Hour Gardener trying to force the hand of House Tuttle by tricking them into attacking the House Redwyne or another House of the Reach. The appearance of two men from the Night’s Watch at this far corner of Westeros at just this moment is too unlikely a thing to call coincidence.
It should be interesting to see how it all plays out. Personally I hope that they all kill each other. As long as my sister stays safe and doesn’t get to adventurous, it will all be fine in my book.
